Yes. You can start visiting a target under the Cache Mode and after Create/Open a Project Session to save the data but Pantera will miss a lot of links (the links you set not to be saved like images, and such...)
If you just want do to some basic stuff it is better to work under the Cache Mode but if you want to do more it is preferable you start with the Project Session Mode right away.

Usually Pantera is quite fast but sometimes depending on the pages it can take longer to analize, specially under the Project Session Mode, just wait :)
The response from the server was not understood by Pantera.
The problem is in the XML config file. Check it out again. Probably you missed some tag or value.
