Folder Comments

Comments can be added to folders just as to images in JAlbum's Edit pane. Here you can specify where to display those comments.

Enhanced Picture

You can have one picture displayed in large size for each folder.

Please note, when you use virtual folders (the album elements are added separately from different folders) you cannot use the "This" type, because virtual folders does not exists phisically on your hard drive so there's no folder where the skin can find the enhanced picture. However it can find when you add a whole folder once.

Omit | Top | Left | Right The position for the Enhanced picture relative to thumbnail table. Omit = no enhanced picture.

Type

  • This
You can choose the enhanced picture by it's filename. The skin will look for the given file in each folder and displays it if finds one. You can even exculde this file in the Edit panel if you don't want this picture appear along with the normal album images, but by checking "Omit thumbnail" it can be excluded too. If you plan to add comment to the enhanced picture, use the latter method, for JAlbum cannot read comments of excluded pictures.

This feature can be useful e.g. for displaying a map on each index page. The picture will inherit all the filters attached to slidepage pictures.

If the picture is already exists in the output folder (the same as the index page's) the program will copy the enhanced file only if you chose the "All" option before making the album (or "Rebuild all" with Jalbum 6.x). You can force the re-copying of the enhanced picture by removing it from the output folder in the case you've changed the size and don't want to rebuild all the pictures.

Please note, when you use virtual folders (the album elements are added separately from different folders) you need to place the file you want to show in Album's directory. You can open this directory by Tools / Open Directories / Output directory.

  • First Picture
The program automatically chooses the first picture from the directory (you can move the desired picture manually to the first place in the Edit panel).

  • Folder Icon
The picture chosen as "Folder thumbnail" in the Edit panel will be used.

SizeYou can specify here the picture bounds of the enhanced picture. The images will resized to fit in this box and will keep their original aspect ratio. If this size is bigger than the original size, no resizing will done.

Omit thumbnailIf you use "First Picture" or "Folder Icon" you must not exculde the chosen picture — doing so JAlbum cannot generate the icon for them. Even though these pictures will be included in the album you can instruct Chameleon to remove its thumbnail from the index page table. If you use "This" type, you can exclude the picture manually in the Edit tab too by pressing the '-' sign.

Blog style layout

This layout is designed for the top level pages of albums. It always shows one picture per row. There are two options:

  • Using thumbnails
This layout has the normal thumbnails on the left side, the text attached to the thumbnail is right to it (algined left). In the case of a thumbnail it shows big fonts for the folder title.

  • Using Images
This way the large pictures of slide pages will be used instead of thumbnails. You can specify their bounds (maximum dimensions) in the size boxes. Note, that you cannot have larger images than your slide page pictures. Chameleon sets as half of the Image bounds as set on Settings / Images panel.

Notes

  • By using Folders and Pictures mixed in a folder you might find it hard to spot the difference between them.
  • Using password protected folders with slide images you might get broken picture links.
  • You can make single page gallery by deselecting "Make slides" on Settings / Navigation page. Choose the original dimensions (Settings / Images) for the best result with Blog style images.
