.SH SYNOPSIS
.B xtacy
[
.BI \- option
\|.\|.\|.

.SH DESCRIPTION
.B xtacy
generates trippy patterns in an X window and cycles the color palette. Without any arguments,
.B xtacy
will open a window and display a random effect. .SH OPTIONS
.TP
.B \-annoy

Turn on the Zoomy Close Window thing.

.TP
.BI \-bw\ width

Border Width. Specifies the

.I width
of the border around your window, in pixels. .TP
.BI \-delay\ msec

Delay

.I msec
microseconds between loops.
.TP
.BI \-display\ displayname

Opens the

.B xtacy
window on the
.I displayname
display.
.TP
.BI \-geometry\ geom

Opens the

.B xtacy
window with
.I geom
geometry.
.TP
.B \-h

Print out a help message.

.TP
.B \-lock

Lock the window. When given the

.B \-lock
flag,
.B xtacy
prompts you for a key, then locks the window until the key is entered again. There is no true security guaranteed by this option. .TP
.B \-mirror

Mirrors the pattern on the window

.TP
.B \-norect

Used in conjunction with

.B \-kaleid
to turn off everything but the lines.
.TP
.BI \-number\ num

Used in conjunction with different effect options to specify special

qualities of the effect. See the effect options below. .TP
.BI \-opt\ num

Also used like

.B \-number
to feed a secondary option into
.B xtacy
.TP
.BI \-part\ num

Used in conjunction with

.B \-gravity
to specify the number of roaming particles.
.TP
.B \-r
.TQ
.B \-root

Run

.B xtacy
in the root window.
.TP
.B \-rillybig

Run

.B xtacy
in a really big window (1024x860).
.TP
.B \-trell

Used in conjunction with

.B \-plasma
to put it in Trellace mode.
.TP
.BI \-windows\ n

Tell

.B xtacy
to open
.I n
windows for itself.
.SH COLOR OPTIONS
.TP
.BI \-bd\ color

Set the border color of the

.B xtacy
window to
.IR color .
.TP
.BI \-bg\ color

Set the background color of the

.B xtacy
window to
.IR color .
.TP
.B \-mono

Run with a greyscale palette.

.TP
.B \-multi

Rotates the color map on most effect modes.

.TP
.B \-few

Use only 18 colors.

.TP
.B \-several

Use 72 colors.

.TP
.BI \-colors\ num

Try to use

.I num
colors.
.TP
.B \-rand
.TQ
.B \-randomcolor

Scramble the colormap.

.TP
.B \-perfect

Use a private colormap. This will let

.B xtacy
have perfect colors when the cursor is in that window, but will do funky things to the rest of the screen.
.TP
.BI \-pal\ num|filename

Uses predefined palette

.IR num :
.IP
.BR 0 :

Default RYGCBM, rotating straight.

.br
.BR 1 :

Three bands (red, green, and blue), each of which can rotate

independantly.
.br
.BR 2 :

Like palette

.B 1
but in greyscale.
.br
.BR 3 :

Chooses 2 random colors and interpolates between them.

.br
.BR 4 :

Starts with a greyscale palette, drops in a random color and smoothes

around it.
.br
.BR 5 :

Chooses 3 random colors and interpolates between them.

you can also specify a Palette File, which is just a text file with R-G-B triples ranging from 0 to 255. A few demonstration palette files are included in the Xtacy distribution, in the palette directory.

.SH EFFECT OPTIONS
.TP
.B \-bez

Bouncing Bezier curves. The

.B \-number
option specifies how many curves to display. .TP
.B \-boxes

Bouncing boxes. The

.B \-number
option specifies how many boxes to display.
.TP
.B \-bozo

Bouncing quadrilaterals (bozogons). The

.B \-number
option specifies how many bozos to display.
.TP
.B \-circ

Bouncing circles. The

.B \-number
option specifies how many circles to display. .TP
.B \-qix

Qix. The

.B \-number
option specifies how many qix lines to display. .TP
.B \-qix4

Four qix lines, mirrored on each other. The

.B \-number
option specifies how many qix lines to display. .TP
.B -blur
starts with randomly placed boxes, and then blurs the edges between them. .TP
.B \-cells

Tile floor, cells of rotating color. The

.B \-number
option specifies how many cells on a row.
.TP
.B \-clover

Lines rotating around a center point.

.TP
.B \-cube

A spinning wire-frame cube. You may want to push up the delay to slow

this down on a fast system.
.TP
.B \-dcurve
plots the colors based on the distance to the curve(s) .TP
.B \-dline
plots colors based on the distance to the line(s) .TP
.B \-dog

DogPlasma mode. The

.B \-number
option sets the graininess.
.TP
.B \-field

Displays e-fields between random points of random

intensity. The
.B \-number
option specifies how many points to display. .TP
.B \-flush
starts with randomly drawn boxes, and moves them towards the center of the window .TP
.B \-fracrect
ever decreasing squares-within-squares
.TP
.B \-funky

Shapes spiraling down to the center point. The

.B \-number
option sets the shape:
.IP
.BR 0 :

A straight line.

.br
.BR 1 :

A square.

.br
.BR 2 :

A triangle.

.TP
.B \-gravity

Gravity well simulator. The

.B \-part
option sets the number of roaming particles and the .B \-number
option sets the number of wells.
.TP
.B \-julia

Julia set fractal. The

.B \-number
option sets the number of iterations.
.TP
.B \-kaleid

Kaleidascope. The

Mandelbrot set fractal. The

.B \-number
option sets the number of iterations.
.TP
.B \-max

Max Headroom's background (Max not included)

.TP
.B \-newton

Display swirls of colors. The

.B \-number
option sets the width of the bands.
.TP
.B \-off

Off the Air color test pattern.

.TP
.B \-plasma

Plasma cloud. The

.B \-number

option puts it in Trellace mode, which started as a bug but looked neat enough to stay.
.TP
.B \-rose

Phased sine waves

.TP
.B \-spiral

Draw a spiral.

.TP
.B \-star

Starfield simulation. The

.B \-number
option determines the number of stars on the screen at a time. .TP

.B \-mono
to get black and white static.
.TP

Button Action~Description

=

Button 1 click~T{

Rotates the colormap one pixel, except on:

.br
.BR \-gravity ,
where it places a new particle,
.br
.BR \-wander ,
where it moves the pixel, and
.br
.BR \-swarm ,
where it moves the queen.

_

Button 2 click~Resets the window and redraws the effect\ \ \

_

Button 3 click~T{

Closes the window. If it's the last window, exits the program. If the
