This section describes what to do when you start iManager first time.
General purpose of iManager is to provide an easy-to-navigate interface for managing picture. It means that its as easy as possible in use. It provide you a comfort interface, fast access to any picture and possibility to open it in different applications or internal viewer. Besides, iManager is media- independent. It means that you need to mount the media where the pictures stored only when you want to open them.
iManager can work in to modes - normal and dockable. In first mode, it starts as any other application - through menu or by invoking from command line. In dockable mode, iManager place a small icon in system tray, and you can gain almost full access to it through that icon. If you use dockable mode, you can force iManager to start automatically after KDE loading. Must to tell you, that this is my preferred mode to use it.
When you start iManager, a main window will appear on the screen. It doesn't have any picture and any chapter yet. You must to create them. To create chapter, press on "Chapters" button and choose "Create chapter" from the drop down menu. Note, that each chapter name must be unique. Beside this, a chapter name will be used as the name of directory where thumbaits will be stored. So it cannot contain the symbols that are not allowed in directory name.
To add a picture to chapter, you must press "Picture" button and then choose "Add picture". Note, that you can choose more than one picture at one time. New button with added picture will appear in the chapter. The title string of picture displayed its file name, and credits string is empty. You can edit them by click "Picture" then choose "Properties", or by choosing "Properties" from the popup menu, which will appear by right click.
iManager calculates checksum for each picture. It needed for checking for duplicates. Remember, that when you change the picture, you need to recalculate its checksum. To do this, you must click on "Chapters" button and then select "Recalculate checksums".
