Solfege plays a chord, and you identify it. The idea is that you do this in three steps:
It is important that you take your time, maybe sing the chord, and identify the chord type before you try to find the inversion. Also note that this exercise uses lesson files, and some lessonfiles only ask for chord type, or chord type and inversion.
Following is a list of some of the chord exercises, in an order I suggest you can practise them. You can of course find all the lesson files on the config page of the exercise.
On the top of the config page there is a frame labeled Lesson file, that selects what lessonfile to use. Click the button change lesson file... to open the window Select lesson file. This window is the same for all exercises that use lessonfiles. There are two choices you have to make:
At the top, you select one of the collection of lesson files to use. The collection 'solfege' contains the files distributed with the program. The 'user' collection has all files created or installed
by you, by default located in $HOME/lesson-files
. It is possible to define other collecitons by editing
$HOME/.solfegerc
.
Once you selected a collection, you can select a lesson file in the list beneath it. Clik OK to go back to the config page.
Below that there is a checkbox labeled Change midi instrument for this exercise. If checked, the frames below let you select three different instruments. The first will be used for the highest tone in the chord, the second for the middle tones and the last for the lowest tone in the chord. If not enabled, Solfege will use the instrument set from the Preferences window.
