Images

The Image menu provides access to all image-specific functions in flPhoto:

Open

Choose Open to open the currently selected image in the display area. If multiple images have been selected in the album, then the last image that was selected will be opened.

Images may also be opened by double-clicking on them in the album.

Save

Choose Save to save the current image in the same format. Currently flPhoto supports saving images in the JPEG and PNG formats.

If you rotate a JPEG image, flPhoto can save the image without re-compressing it, so you won't lose quality. If you perform other transformations or touch-up operations, then the image will be re-compressed.

When saving JPEG files, the JPEG parameter dialog will be shown before the file is saved.

The
JPEG Parameter Dialog

Save As...

Choose Save As... to save the current image to a new file.

Select All

Choose Select All to select all images in the album.

Select None

Choose Select None to unselect all images in the album.

Remove

Choose Remove to remove all selected images from the album. Images are only removed from the album - the files themselves remain on disk.

Revert

Choose Revert to return the current image to its original appearance.

Touch-Up

The Touch-Up menu provides several basic image enhancement functions:

Auto Adjust

Choose Auto Adjust to sharpen the image and adjust the brightness and contrast.

Brightness + Contrast

Choose Brightness + Contrast to automatically adjust the brightness and contrast of the image.

Remove Red-Eye

Choose Remove Red-Eye to automatically remove bright red spots in the image.

The current algorithm converts the spots to grayscale and darkens them somewhat. The spot size is not limited, so a bright red shirt or other object in an image will also get converted. Pointers to better algorithms and/or code to improve the algorithm are welcome!

Sharpen

Choose Sharpen to sharpen the image using the so-called "unsharp mask" operation which first creates a blurred version of the image and then sharpens the image based on the difference.

Blur

Choose Blur to blur the image.

Transform

The Transform menu provides several basic image transformation functions:

The
Image Crop Dialog

Crop...

Choose Crop... to display the image crop dialog. From there you can enter Left, Right, Top, and Bottom pixel margins or draw a rectangular area in the preview box and then click OK to crop the current image to the specified area. All numbers are pixels.

Rotate (Counter-)Clockwise

Choose Rotate Counter-Clockwise or Rotate Clockwise to rotate the current image 90 degrees in the specified direction.

The
Image Scale Dialog

Scale...

Choose Scale... to diplay the image scale dialog. From there you can enter new Width, Height, and Scale values to control the size of the image. Click OK to resize the image.
